Casa Calandra

Location

Casa Calandra is situated in the idyllic Valle d’Itria on the Puglian coast. This undulating green valley is interlaced with dry-stone walls, vineyards, almond trees and olive groves.

Located between Bari and Brindisi, Casa Calandra is the perfect place from which to explore this charming region of Southern Italy. Featuring white-washed hilltop towns, olive groves dotted with the distinctive and historically unique clusters of ‘trulli’ dwellings mostly charmingly renovated in recent years. With the azure blue of the Adriatic sea sparkling in the distance, Puglia is a completely unique destination.

The villa is around 8km from the coast, with numerous sandy beaches, lidos and nature reserves to explore. Local coastline includes the dramatically located cliff-top town of Polignano a Mare and Savelletri, a delightful and thriving fishing village where excellent, restaurants, cafés and gelaterias are to be found around the harbourside.

Many charming hilltop towns in the Valle d’itria, often with spectacular views of the plains below from their historic centres, are to be found all within a short drive of the villa. The nearest is Ostuni, ‘The White City’ a mere 10 minutes away with its excellent restaurants, bars, supermarkets, delicatessens and famous Saturday market. A little further afield are Cisternino famed for its exemplary Puglian cuisine, Martina Franca and another gastronomic destination, Celie Messapica.
